V. Paul Greenwood,
USHPA #79721
Co-founder of Paraglide Texas
Paragliding Instructor, certified by USHPA
Leander, Texas
Background...
Paul has made his
home in the Austin TX area since the early 1990's. He moved to the area
after earning a degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State
University. He spent many years as a design engineer for high tech companies
in and around Austin.
3 State Records...[click
here]
Paul set 3 state records for distance paragliding in the U.S. in July 2005
(Oklahoma, Nebraska, and South Dakota).
Tow Winch
development...
With his background, he is at home designing and
developing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. To this extent, he
developed a hydraulic tow winch we affectionately call “V-tow,” so
named for ‘V. Paul Greenwood’ (better known as “V” to those of us in the
paragliding world). V-tow is used to bring a paraglider airborne from the
ground by attaching a tow line from the winch to the pilot. Typically, the
pilot releases from ‘V-tow’ between 1,000’ and 2,000’ above the ground. The
highest release to date is just over 3,200'! Whoohoo - - what a ride!
Other Info...
Paul is not only a top engineer, designer, pilot, and instructor; he's also
an artist of modern and contemporary art. He's truly a one-of-a-kind
individual. Check out a sampling of his artwork...[click

Important liability note from Paul Greenwood...
"Remember, paragliding can be a dangerous sport. I also believe it is the
greatest experience I've personally ever undertaken. We'll be learning many
ways to improve safety and hopefully learn ways to keep you from getting
hurt. I, however, do not accept any liability for injuries or death that may
occur due to participation in this sport. Instruction is not required in the United States to fly
paragliders. I instruct to help you be a better paraglider pilot than you
might be without instruction." |

Gary Leach, USHPA #81212
Co-founder of Paraglide Texas
Assistant
Paragliding Instructor
Austin, Texas
Background...
Gary was born and raised in Texas, and has been in the Austin TX area since
the mid-1990s. He earned his petroleum engineering degree from Texas A&M
University and his MBA from Texas State University. After spending his first
years in the oil & gas business, he's been in Austin auditing information
technology systems.
1 State Record...[click

Gary set the state record for distance paragliding in Kansas in July 2005.
Other Info...
Gary assists Paul with many of Paul's
paragliding-related development projects; in fact, Gary was the test pilot on Paul's
V-tow project... and he was really glad it all worked!
Gary also wrote a song about paragliding...[click

Important liability note from Gary Leach...
"Paragliding can be a dangerous sport. It is also one of the most satisfying and
rewarding activities I've ever pursued. We'll be learning many ways to
improve safety and hopefully learn ways to keep you from getting
hurt. I, however, do not accept any liability for injuries or death that may
occur due to participation in this sport. Instruction is not required in the United States to fly
